My profile? Post-teenage identity problem…
Ciao Tutti! I’m Borut from Slovenia / EU (former Yugoslavia) and I thought blogging would be easy. I was writing diary for years, but now I’m confronted with questions that I didn’t expect and I feel like opening a Pandora’s box. In what language should I write? Should I write in Slovenian or English? After careful few days consideration I decided to write it in English and not in Slovenian. Why not in my mothertoungh? Well, I firmly believe in colective consciousness and the most important reason for creating this blog is adding my share to our colective consciousness. From that point, the obvious decision is English language. But I must admit it did cracks some uncomfortable identity questions. Am I denying something? I am Slovenian and my predecessors did fight with their lives to gain independent Republic of Slovenia where myself and my family do live in peace and speak a language that was oppressed for many centuries. Have I betrayed them? I’m sure many people would say so, but… Primož Trubar Slovenian literate who first published a book in Slovenian language (1550) risked his life many times, but I hardly understood a word or two when in secondary school teacher read a part from his book. Is that a betrayal of father of Slovenian writen word? Certainly not. We do evolve and we evolve in the best way we know how, in the direction we think we should and using methods that should be most effective. None the less I am photographer by profession, I express myself best through photography and languages that I speak are merely tools of conveying message, sharing an information in colective consciousness.
Here are few pictures from today’s visit to our parcel that we’ve payed for it passed Wednesday. Of course we were looking for it quite some time and we’ve payed it with a bank loan. On the pictures are my daughter Luchka, my pregnant wife Alenka and myself with my daughter. Our house will be on the top of the hill. We own “just” 800 m2 on top of the hill.
In the future do expect more serious photography then is my family albuum, but I think it’s a start to try out all these new stuff that techology if offering to us. OK. I did upload one recent picture that I really like from my project 5am. The project is getting up at 4:30 and photographing untill 5:59 what is going on. I’m doing this for six years through outthe world and it’s going to be a book. Eventually. Actually in future blogs I will write more on photography and book publishing.
