20080921_2873pregled2008-1 I’m glad that Mladina chosen my picture to be that picture of the year. On it Minister Zver shows Prime Minister Janša and Minister Virant results of elections on Parlamentarial elections 2008 in Slovenia, where they have lost it. This was a moment nobody was expecting. Prime Minister Janša was not only expecting victory, but victory with great advantage, but lost the elections with few thousand votes. When I shot the image it was really intense moment. We were a herd of about 40+ photographers, cameramans and journalists and we were elbowing each other and we were constantly pushed by bodyguards.

There was enough light from cameras, so I chosen a wide angle lens 24/f1,4 35mm and ISO 250. I was fast and fixed lens and 12,7 million pixels allowed me to crop the image. I took a lot of photographs and when Minister Zver was showing a text message on the phone to Prime Minister I knew it’s a decisive moment. I was reading text message on their expressions while photographing. That night I felt I’m in the flow of decisive moment!

Hm, Exif pri prvi pravi 35mm, pri drugi pa je pravi, 24mm.

  2. Ja, prav imaš imel sem 35mm/f2 objektiv. A poanta ostaja. Fiksni objektiv je svetlejši (hitrejši), in boljše, ostrejše fotke dela, tako lahko delaš lepši izrez.
    thx,

    I understand.
You have a Zorki with broken lightmeter and you get turn on with camera settings. Well… it’s a free country.
    Have one of the wrist!

It was dark and cold… I was lingering should I wear zoom and get a close up of her or should I have a fixed lens ready for action. ISO is not my thing, but I know that pictures enjoy more if they are treated with low ISO and fixed lens. On the other hand she was moving as a feather across the room under the soft light. I couldn’t wait any longer! CLICK, CLICK, CLICK,
She looked straight in the lens and I CLICKED again. I noticed a flicker of a smile on her face and CLICK, CLICK, CLICK!
    But NO!
My hands were shaking and knees were weak so I shaken the picture!
I screamed PLEASE HERE, but my voice was lost CLICK in a rummble of the room CLICK and while wind was caressing here hair CLICK my camera was pleading for mercy CLICK, CLICK, CLICK

Congrats for the picture of the year.
I saw your web site. Looks great. Maybe, that white background is to bright for me and I noticed that pictures are loaded too slow. I have 384 kbs connection but I have to wait for almost a minute for picture to load. I could’n find some button that leads to picture explanation or something like that. Maybe it would be nice. I like that big main window. Also, I noticed some strange interference of thumbnails when I was changing sets. For example, when I click on story of Dayton, there are still some thumbnails from Striptiz story.

dude that was photo porn…a new fetish…i love it…i’ll think of something spicy to write about…and igor…borut’s website is meant to be seen with sun glasses…and regarding the technical problems well i think it adds to borut’s work. you see mistakes are human, bad websites devine.

    happy new year

Uh, ne me narobe razumet, fotka je odlična, samo kot se mi zdel za 24tko. Ja, moment je pravi.

  8. B5 Says:

    Igor,
I can imagine that slow Internet connection makes a problem to view this site. I guess that was also the reason for thumbnail issue. Captions are to follow. First picture of Striptiz portrait has it. I like white. It puts the design in second plane and photography in first.
JC, that’s great idea with shades!
