Snapping photography
Do you do snapshot photography? I used to do it. Now I can’t. Don’t know why. Too many images I guess. Who will view them? Time.
But the work of Richard Billingham and his book Ray’s a laugh it’s still one of my favourite books. And Terry Richards was working for Sisley when I was at Fabrica and I remember Toscani didn’t like his work. I didn’t like Terry’s work either, but now I do. Garry Winogrand is my favourite photographer who was snapping everything that was moving.
Am I lingering to do more snapshot photography? I think so. To plan everything in advance and knowing what and for who you are shooting it takes the magic away! Please leave a comment who is your favourite snapshot photographer. Or even a link to your favourite snapshot photograph. Let’s get inspired!
Photoshelter & TinEye – just married

http://tineye.com/
Tineye is a search engine in reverse. You can search the web for your images and determine how they’re being used on-line. Tineye is not a new service, but now they’ve indexed more then 1 billion on-line images, so now it’s actually practicable. Photoshelter and TinEye just begun their partnership and TinEye will begin index PhotoShelter-hosted images that are marked as “publicly searchable” and search results will show any other online usage.
I tried them out and I typed THIS URL of one Ambrus image from my flickr account and it did found two sites using my picture. One was Mladina (of course) and second one was www.uykucu.org, that I have no clue who they are or what they do. HERE is the search result. And there is also a very practical add-on available.
Svarun / Patria 8×8 & Finec

This photo I took yesterday. By coincidence I spotted a convoy of armored vehicles Patria 8×8 that stopped at a rest stop Barje on a highway in Ljubljana. I took few pictures just upon their departure. Yesterday Slovenian army declared that Slovenian name for Patria AMV 8×8 is Svarun. Only when I was editing pictures I noticed that a truck parked beside is wearing a sign Finec (a guy from Finnland). Extraordinary coincidence.

Tednik Mladina 38 / 2009 – napovednik
In this issue of Mladina weekly…
Prime Minister Borut Pahor with MURA workers on strike
Yesterday I covered a strike of Mura workers and a visit of Prime Minister Borut Pahor. We were all waiting for possible good news, but hours later when Prime Minister Borut Pahor and Minister Lahovnik exited there were no good news. Just a very, very bitter feelings that reached a peak when politicians were leaving and an old lady in the back were yelling, crying and explaining how her husband died three years ago, how hard was she working all her life and how she is totally broken and have no reasons to live. We were following Prime Minister and those words were echoing even louder 50 meters away. Bitterness of the moment camera was unable to catch.

Our house will have a roof anytime

Our house will have a roof in any time! A lot of things happening around the house and we’re planning to move in in about a half a year. Maybe two months more. I love the view from a balcony that will be in front of children room.

New issue of Mladina weekly…
New Striptiz portrait – Sašo Vrabič, a painter
On Friday I went to the opening of exhibition in Gallery Simulaker by Sašo Vrabič. I took my camera to make few documentary pictures of the opening. I took few frames and when we were exiting the gallery I ask him again to walk pass his painting. I set my camera to 1/8 s shot the image hand holding the camera. I didn’t had great expectations and I’ve shot it in 5 min, but I’m really satisfied with the portrait, so now we’ll publish it in Mladina in notorious Striptiz rubric. You can see few more images from the occasion in my archive.borutpeterlin.com.
By the way, Sašo is also a singer of Perpetuum Jazzile choir, who’s video on you tube had 6.million views.
Enigmatic crop circles – Slovenian way

Last Sunday I flew with a balloon from Šmarješke Toplice to Straža and near airfield Prečna a farmer left a message to pilots flying above his head.

TAXES – an illustration with photography

DAVKI means taxes in Slovenian language and for Mladina weekly I’ve made this picture illustrating new taxes for real-estate that will be introduced in Slovenia. We’ve planned to have a cover with this issue, but it’s too fragmented with too many small elements, but we used it as a large opening picture inside the magazine.
