Yesterday I finished reading a book Sanjajo tisti, ki preveč spijo of Nejc Gazvoda. I loved it truly and I recommend. I loved very much also an afterword by Gašper Troha. In the afterword some side point caught my attention that grew into inspiration. Troha is briefly mentioning the role of writers in socialistic system that we had in Yugoslavia, then he’s mentioning writer’s generation in transition from socialism to capitalism and now highlighting Nejc as a post-transition writer.

This inspired me to think for how fascists, communists and other dictators were trying to bend art to be part of their educational / propaganda system and that expectation of artists (people on general) were really high when transition into democracy and capitalism happen. But nowadays 20 years after, we got to know very well capitalism and democracy and I’m noticing art is again grinding under the wheel of free market. Basically the goal is the same, even more it’s identical, arts as a part of propaganda machine. Artist who are worthy, they add value into lives of people (Paris Hilton?) and those who do not, they should perish (Van Gogh?).

In capitalism the mantra is ADDED VALUE and myself as a humble servant of capitalism I’ve made this series of pictures. If you want to buy it, the price for all this pictures is 670 EUR + VAT + printing and shipping expenses. It will be only one edition, so who comes first, remains first! Contact is here. Why 670 EUR? That’s how much I payed for 12 cubic meters of log with transportation and I’m lingering if I should became a lumberjack or should I remain an artist. In which field can I add more value into peoples lives?
For you who aren’t interested in buying this picture series, please rate this post and let me know where do you need me. One star is a vote for “definitely a logger”, five stars is “definitely a photographer” and other stars are levels in between. THX!!!

New website www.borutpeterlin.com

Dear readers of my blog,
I’m proud to announce that I’ve refurbished my site www.borutpeterlin.com, sort my collection of Striptiz creative portraits and upload my new project Tour de Dayton. Don’t miss my artist statement, I hope it’s a memorable one. Enjoy it in full screen resolution (bottom left corner) and make yourself a PDF portfolio from my images and download it! Pictures are still copyrighted, though.
Please let me know what you think and share the info in your social network.

PS: I’m using APhotofolio service for two years now and guys are great. I wrote them so many questions and requests, that we became friends and next summer we’re going together to an FKK camp in Mali raj, Dolenje Polje, Slovenia!

An erotic portrait of an erotic photographer, Rajko Bizjak

Rajko Bizjak portrayed by BorutPeterlin.com 20110907_9374

Rajko Bizjak is very known and acknowledged erotic photographer in Slovenia and he’s exhibiting his work at Photon Gallery in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

I wanted to make his portrait, but a really good one. I took myself a week to think about it. The inspiration came from Duane Michal’s self-portrait with feminine beard but Duane was using multiexpousure (or sandwich of negatives) and I executed in a literal way. That’s the formula I use times and times again and usually the reality brings me the most surreal concepts. Like the one of Andrej Hočevar… Anyhow I hired Rajko’s model for this portrait and I will not even ask for a reimbursement from my client and avoid the question where is the official receipt with VAT number :-)
I hope you will like it, rate it, comment it and eventually buy a book of my portraits. Regular commentators of this blog will earn a free copy. Few of them like JC and Leopardman already won the unpublished book. Iztok used to be a regular “The Avalaunch” commentator but now he gave up. We miss you!

PS: Facebook banned this portrait! Ha, I’m getting controversial, which means last chance to buy my prints for three digit price :-)

From Visa pour l’Image, Perpignan, France

B5 presenting his Tour de Dayton project to honorable audience in Arles.

Today I’ve returned from Visa pour l’Image Perpignan 2011 festival in south-west of France. Fotopub crew Andrej, Baco and myself reunited in Perpignan with Meta Krese, Arne Hodalič and Chris de Bode, where we started making program for Fotopub festival 2012. It will be a blast, I can tell you that, but you know that already, so please book a week between 23.-28. July 2012 and come to Novo mesto, Slovenia.

I brought also my portfolio to Perpignan and show it to few agents. An editor from the most important agency in the world (how difficult is to guess which) loved my creative portraits and even more my Flower Power images. His comment: “You’re f… Bold. You break every rule there is and I hate them as much as I love them! I can’t stop looking at them!” We promised that we’ll start a cooperation, but I know since I’m based in Slovenia and not in London or Paris or NY, it will be much harder. No doubt challenging times in front of me :-)

On the way back from Perpignan, we stopped at Arles and check few exhibitions. I love Arles even more then Perpignan, but not more then Fotopub, of course.

From Kaunas photo festival in Lithuania

leave a comment »

Last week I was in Lithuania at Kaunas Photo festival where I exhibited my Flower Power images upon invitation of Mindaugas Kavaliauskas. We’ve met at Viena Portfolio Review (a report from Vienna). The festival was great, I met so many great people from all over the world, exhibitions were great, I loved their evening talks and Kaunas Photo Star projection. My Flower Power exhibition looked fantastic. Organizers of the exhibition Mindaugas Kavaliauskas and Donatas Stankevičius did a fantastic job. The exhibition was in the Kaunas botanical garden, indoors and also outdoors. It was really great to see my pictures among flowers, trees, bushes :-)

Eric Freedman, an associate professor of Journalism and a Pulitzer Prize-winner wrote an article on my exhibition. YOU GOT TO READ IT. His blog is so well written, I would like to be his student!

Few more images from the festival:
