Portrait of Borut Pahor for Mladina
Today I’ve made a portrait of Borut Pahor, president of SD party and MP of EU parliament. I had plenty of time for photographing and I enjoyed it. Here are few pictures. Equipment: 2 studio flashes 750 Ws, 1 softbox, 1 spot and flash feeder. Camera EOS 5D, lenses 20mm f1/2,8; 28mm f 1/1,8; 85mm f 1/1,8 and zoom 70-200mm f 1/2,8. On few pictures I lit him from the back with spot light, but I like to be modest with back lightning. On last picture you can see how I’ve set flashes. But I was moving constantly and as you see every picture is shot with different background. Dancing photography!
PS:_There_are_only_two_elements that makes the picture. Shadow and light. All portraits were shot on three locations (all in the garden) and for every picture I made that face was in the shadow, so my flash light did had an effect. On the first shot when Borut Pahor is leaning to the tree I was photographing toward the sun. His face was in the shadow, but I was using exposure of 1/200s and aperture about 11, so ambient light was weak and flash looked perfect. I’m uploading movies where you’ll see how my flash was set. Later,…
Post, post scriptum:
Cooler at my PC broke down and I had my computer at the service, so I didn’t blog lately. Nor did I had any time, since we finished the issue in just two days. What I wanted to add is short 10 sec video from the interview from which you could see how I’ve set the lights.
This picture is interesting because I set flash high above Borut Pahor and softbox casted a shadow and emitted light as you can see it HERE.
And HERE is another super short video from the other location (few meters away) of the interview.
