Portrait of musician Leon Matek for Striptiz rubric

leon matek

Leon Matek is a musician and film director. He published his CD with excellent music and HERE is link to his songs. Since he’s also director he’s also skilled in visual media, so he suggested that he would water his guitar and I brought also an umbrella that was really old and I found in our office.
We went to park Tivoli and I wanted to have sort of a teletubbies aesthetic, clean, plain, but I wanted to have an open perspective, but nonetheless still clean with just few visual elements. I set my flash on full power (750 Ws), exposure time 1/200s makes sky and background really dark and aperture was about f 1:11. With exposure time you control the background.leon matekI started with straight portrait and It was good, but it was too balanced. I moved a side a little bit and the composition got more dynamic. The first, large picture above is an upgraded version of the first composition of this thumbnail.

If you want I’ll devote a post on mixing flash and ambient light, but for now, here are two shots both of them are with aperture f1:8, but first one is shot with 1/100s and second is shot with 1/200 of a second. d233_1952_borut_peterlin.jpgd233_1951_borut_peterlin.jpg
