Portrait of Oliver Vodeb

with 2 comments

oliver vodeb

Oliver Vodeb is a sociologist, communication and design theorist, activist and a creative director. In 2007 he received a Phd in sociology from the Faculty for Social sciences, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. In his dissertation he developed a communications concept of Socially responsive communication.

So my task was to do a portrait illustrating all that for an article about him. I wanted to do something with advertising, but I didn’t want to advertise some brands. He is not either pro or contra advertising. We’ve met at the parking lot of Bežigrad stadium and when I noticed backs of three billboards I knew this is the scenery where I want to make a portrait. Inspiration was of course Steven Gill’s and his project billboards. Actually a year ago I already made his portrait but for Striptiz portrait.

I have a task for you. I was about to make a striptiz portrait of Samo Sedlaček, a really great artist. I saw his piece Žicar at Center in galerija P74 and I knew immediately this guy thinks similar as I do. Today I already set it up a scenery where I want to make his portrait, but the working days of the company were over so we’ll continue tomorrow. Try some brainstorming and leave a comment how would you make a portrait for Striptiz rubric.

  1. Hej!

Find an electric company with a lots of cables or pipes in a hall or bigger place..

Then bring a table and a chair, a plate and a napkin (like he is having a dinner)..

… and then put a globus with inner light (do you remember this kind of globuses? you can switch the light on – it is inside of it) on the plate.. like he will “eat the worlds brains”… during teh dinner 🙂
