Boris Petkovič – new Striptiz portrait

with 18 comments

Boris Petkovič, author of film
I know Boris Petkovič – Oli from secondary school. We both used to live in Straža, but now I moved to Novo mesto and he moved to Paris. Few years ago he was telling me that he decided to head for Paris and although he didn’t speak French, or didn’t had a rich uncle, he decided boldly to stay there for five years. Now his fifth year is running and he is very happy with curent situation. His feature film will start running in Slovenian cinemas. On Saturday at 8pm pre-premier will happen in Novo mesto in Čajnica Krojač.

Anyhow. I was asking him to do a Striptiz portrait of him half a year ago, but we didn’t found proper time and occasion. Now time was perfect, but again I didn’t had a firm idea how to do the portrait. I started to write him an email and as I was typing I was developing an idea. I wanted to have some romantic ( elements in, but didn’t want to get cheesy. In the email I developed the idea to the point that he would stand with a flower bouquet that would be set on fire. He wanted to have an element of waiting in the picture and so the idea was born that he would light up his cigarette. We shot the image at Kinoteka where on Wednesday at 8pm first official screening will happen. Roses were artificial with few drops of gasoline.

His blog is

  3. Slovenia has a massive 3rd wave emigration (people in late 20s and 30s) who are scattered around the globe seeking for real opportunities to make best of their lives.

  10. Glede fotke, mogoče bi bilo kul v takih primerih uravnotežiti barvne temperature, kakšen CTO filter čez fleš? Bi še bolj zgledalo, kot da je vsa svetloba od ognja.

  11. Že včeraj sem gledal in občudoval tole fotke. Res nora ideja. Fotka, ki bi jo imel na eni steni poleg ostalih fotk dobrih fotografov.

  12. Yep…Tale je res vrhunska!

  13. @ Samo,
I’m not sure if yellow filter on flash would make the picture better. I wanted that Oli would stick out of the background and if I would shot him with yellow flash lite, then he would merge with the background. In this case I will twick the picture a little bit. Like wall on the right side it’s too magenta and I’ll desaturate blue, saturate yellow and make it 15% darker.
+ yellow light on the wall needs to be 15% lighter as you see it.

    @ Ciril,
thanks. I would like to see that wall.

  14. Se strinjam, oseba mora definitivno izstopit. Samo spomnil sem se na tole fotko, ki sem jo enkrat zapazil, poleg ognja je tudi fleš z oranžnim filtrom na osebo.

  16. Thanks a lot!
I’m sorry that we didn’t have a time to chat more but I’m sure that our paths will overlap in the future.
Do you remember that once I was in Prague you did an exam on act with me? (please don’t publish it if you still have it:))

  17. Of course I still have it. Project tvar a telo (face & body) for a professor who was gay and demanded only male nude photography. I guess it was 1994/95

Of course I’ll not publish it, but concerning this is a public debate, are you trying to make some promotion for those images? For lets say Nova or Obrazi and make some yellow advertisement for your film 🙂
