Tomo Jeseničnik – Striptiz portait for Mladina weekly
Tomo Jeseničnik, is an author of famous picture that represented national campaign I feel Slovenia. He made a T-shirt I feel Tibet as a protest that Slovenian government during it’s presidency of EU, didn’t speak up for human rights issue in Tibet. Picture is shot for Mladina‘s creative portrait rubric Striptiz and was photographed at the same spot beside lake Bohinj that his famous picture was shot. That picture is a part of his three year project Slovenia v presežnikih. Book was released in April and it’s already sold out.
He is super successful commercial photographer and his formula is about the same as Nachtway’s and many others. He works three times as much as ordinary professional photographer. He lives in Velenje and for the picture we met in Celje and then drove to Bohinj to make a picture. The drive was about 200 km if not more, but he didn’t hesitate for a bit. Everything for a good picture. I hope that the portrait justifies the effort. Only at the end I realized it does reminds on Boštjan’s Pucelj portrait, but I don’t think that matters…
Technically it was several minutes exposition and I illuminated the tree with 20 flashes of a studio flash power of 1500Ws. In plain English that’s about whole a lot of energy. I Illuminated Tomo with detached flash and that’s about it.
PS: I was off blog for some time because my eyes are infected + I’m replacing picture-editor at Mladina + today I made a trip to Omarska and back in one day 540 km, but it’ll be really good reportage in this Friday’s Mladina.
