Striptiz brainstorming – Aleksandar Rajaković – Sale
On Monday I’ll do another Striptiz creative portrait for Mladina of actor Aleksandar Rajaković – Sale and his theater performance based on a book Čefurji Raus. I organized everything and it’ll be a strong portrait, but I’m inviting you to think about how to do this portrait. Of course I prefer to share your brainstorming, but even if you think by yourself it’s a great exercise. But sharing is more fun.

PS:
Yes, I haven’t explain necessary background of the word čefur and the book Čefurji raus. The word čefur is an insult word in Slovenian for residents of Slovenia by origin from former republics of Yugoslavia. The same as word nigger for an Afro-American in USA.
THe book of Vojnović “Čefurji Raus” includes segments where a youth hero is cursing against the police and there are also parts where father of the hero is praising police force, but somebody in the police read just a fragment of the book and then decided to sew Vojnović for the words said in a fiction book! It was a huge laugh and police embarrassingly retrieve the law suit. Few weeks later Vojnović received Prešernova nagrada the highest award for literature in Slovenia, but not because of the incident, but because the book is really a masterpiece.
Interrogation alone would steer attention from the content and message of the book to the ridicules incident with the police, which is already passe
So I want to include in a single picture:
– Fužine where the story is evolving (“notorious” part of Ljubljana where a lot of residents of Slovenia by origin from former YU lives)
– a stereotype of a Slovenian
– a symbol of repression
– the message that Čefur is a state of mind regardless on nationality and in this story Slovenians are superior čefurs! Not mentioning Croatian blockage to the NATO, which is something large majority of Slovenians are ashame of.
Ok. Sounds very intriguing. So, because if I am in Slovenia, I would be Čefur, I would like to see connection between Aleksandar and his play character Marko. I know you will do that and can’t wait to see. I don’t understand Slovenian language completely but from “trailer” on YouTube I saw some something like mocking to Čefur homofobic state of mind and relationship to domestic “softness”. Maybe a good direction for a portrait.

It should be police interrogation, of course. 🙂
