Jean-Christoph Couet by borutpeterlin.com
This is a new version of the picture, after Gregor Kervina on Facebook left a comment that it might look better if I woyld use radial blur and it is much better! THX!

Jean-christophe couet foto borutpeterlin.com Next Striptiz portrait for Mladina weekly is Jean-Christophe Couet , a photographer who just had a show in Galerija Vžigalica, produced by MoTA. I guess every reader of my blog knows JC. The keywords for this picture are camouflage and suicide. The portrait surely isn’t reflecting his work, but since we’ve been studying together I knew he would not mind if I make the picture my way. So, camouflage and suicide.

HERE you can watch an interview on Slovenian national TV, show ARS 360 on 11.4.2009

I finally used my new super-wide zoom 14-24mm and just detached flash. in post production I added flash from the camera, lights on the train and motion blur effect. For motion blur effect I made a new layer and set opacity 85%, so you still see shape of the train and the motion effect looks much better. Here are some images of a torch and a camera flash and before / after effect. On the bottom there are few images from the opening of the show.

  2. If you Matjazz had to think twice how I did it, then thx for the compliment. It took me 15 min to do the portrait and another 15 for the montage. It’s easy when I have a clear concept.
first I wanted to photograph him with his Leica M6 and make a montage of a flashlight on Leica M6, just to piss off all Leica addicts, but mr. Photographer Artist don’t carries his camera with him.

  3. you know that i have a master’s degree so the correct title would be mgr. artist not mr. artist. as a photojournalist you need to keep your fact straights if if you work for glaydina! but here’s my question what the hell is the picture on the right with the flashlight next to the un-retouched portrait? when did this happen?

thanks for the pictures, they look great!

  4. Ha! Mr. master it’s small torch which flare I used as a headlights of the train and I’ve shoot also a compact camera’s flash in the dark. Photomontage is easy if you properly shoot elements that you want to photoshop it together.

  6. This is great portrait. Great post production. It really reflects JC’s appearance here on this blog. Even JC is on the picture, it is good looking one 😉

  7. I like first version more, ’cause now, it looks like that train is leaving.

  8. Igor, you want to say that JC looks like he was run over by a train while the train is leaving? I wouldn’t marry him either, but believe it or not, he would look even worse if train would do his job.
