Svetlana Makarovič, new portrait for Striptiz rubric

with 8 comments

Svetlana Makarevic by
I’m honored that I could photograph Svetlana Makarovič for Striptiz creative portrait, a rubric of Mladina weekly. We’ve met in old part of Ljubljana in pub Pri zelenem zajcu and I had a concept to build a picture on a cigarette smoke, since she is know as a passionate smoker and loud critic of anti-smoking law. I thought she’ll puff a smoke straight into the camera direction and I’ll caught a moment of smoke, expression and a light. Unfortunately there was a mild wind and that idea was not working at all. I had to figure a new idea on the spot and I build the concept downwind (pilot’s expression).

Thanks to Tomica for organization and Alenka for assistance.

  1. Well, it turned out nice and interesting. I like the background. And as usual – she looks younger then she is.

  3. Svetlana je carica, fotka pa tut dobro izpeljana, predvsem razpoloženje mi dela..

MiniTip: Dim (ki je pri njej zelo pomembnen)bi prišel bolj do izraza na temnem ozadju ..

  4. Fotko naredi igra dima in fasade. Razmerje je pravšnje, ker še nihče ni spregledal dima in če bi bila fasada temnejša, bi dim še bolj dominiral in zasenčil detajle fasade in prav to razmerje je magija 🙂

  5. Nice one. Who is she? It looks like smoke is following that yellow paint on the wall. If you light smoke from behind then it pop out more and have stronger structure. I see your light is coming from models right.
No matter, it is good one.

  6. Yes, the smoke was illuminated from behind with sharper directed light that is also illuminating Svetlana’s left side of the face, whereas another flash with softbox was illuminating her right side of the face (looking from photographers side).
