Yesterday I finished reading a book Sanjajo tisti, ki preveč spijo of Nejc Gazvoda. I loved it truly and I recommend. I loved very much also an afterword by Gašper Troha. In the afterword some side point caught my attention that grew into inspiration. Troha is briefly mentioning the role of writers in socialistic system that we had in Yugoslavia, then he’s mentioning writer’s generation in transition from socialism to capitalism and now highlighting Nejc as a post-transition writer.

This inspired me to think for how fascists, communists and other dictators were trying to bend art to be part of their educational / propaganda system and that expectation of artists (people on general) were really high when transition into democracy and capitalism happen. But nowadays 20 years after, we got to know very well capitalism and democracy and I’m noticing art is again grinding under the wheel of free market. Basically the goal is the same, even more it’s identical, arts as a part of propaganda machine. Artist who are worthy, they add value into lives of people (Paris Hilton?) and those who do not, they should perish (Van Gogh?).

In capitalism the mantra is ADDED VALUE and myself as a humble servant of capitalism I’ve made this series of pictures. If you want to buy it, the price for all this pictures is 670 EUR + VAT + printing and shipping expenses. It will be only one edition, so who comes first, remains first! Contact is here. Why 670 EUR? That’s how much I payed for 12 cubic meters of log with transportation and I’m lingering if I should became a lumberjack or should I remain an artist. In which field can I add more value into peoples lives?
For you who aren’t interested in buying this picture series, please rate this post and let me know where do you need me. One star is a vote for “definitely a logger”, five stars is “definitely a photographer” and other stars are levels in between. THX!!!

  2. Yes, I did my secondary school as a carpenter, so it’s my destiny. If I want to be an artist I should cut my ear off, or at least demolish a hotel room

  3. I’ve been a mason for 5 years or so. I’ve work mainly with bricks and blue stones but I can say with certainty that carpentry is GAY.

    Hi Igor…how are you?

  4. Well JC, it’s hard to say it in public, but leopardman is playing a guitar! Even more, he’s teaching how to play a guitar! Check his photomovie It’s great, but the best part is the end when credits are rolling, check who’s playing a guitar! Not to mention who wrote the music!
How gay is that Mr. Mason?

  5. Hi jc. I’m fine. Thank you.
    How are you?

Borut, you should start making pinhole cameras out of wooden logs. 🙂

  6. Well that is pretty gay but having images of logs, and wheelbarrows on your blog wins the Balkan Gay Award or (BGA) as it’s known on the streets of Belgrade. This is rather prestigious and you ought to be proud. Past recipients of this grand award: Tito’s wearing of the white gloves (classic ) Željko Bebek’s moustache cut from and Alen Islamović’s haircut circa 1988. You’ve come along way my friend. And Igor, don’t be so hard on yourself…better luck next time. Being gay is hard work and Borut deserves this.

Thank you, thank you!!! Now that I won the prestigious BGA award, my chances skyrocketed and I’ll try my luck and persuade my beautiful wife into anal sex.
Stay tunned to this blog, olrajt!

  13. Well, JC while studying photography, he was living in dormitory in Prague with a German dude that took a shit at Karlovy most (Charles bridge) and took a flash picture of his anus with the “turtle pocking out”. I hope this will help to clarify the influences of JC’s conceptual photography.

  14. You guys are amazing. While Borut is showing off is new website ( with the same shit in it ) we’re all debating what is gay or isn’t? Unbelievable. Yes it’s just three of us here but there are tons of people who read this shit. Furthermore, I don’t remember taking a flash picture ever ( I have never used a flash in my life ) but if I did, I would kill for that image! I would post it everyday on this blog. Every day. EVERY DAY.

Have I earned an exhibition in Bosnia? I think so.

    21 September, 2011 at 15:40

  15. Definitely my man!!! Just need some details. E-mail me some info on it. What kind of work would you exhibit (documentary, conceptual, personal…). From where will you transfer your images and how? Insurance info… Costs…
And… one gay request… – you have to be present on opening day, here in Bosnia!!! That’s mandatory request!

  17. I wrote clearly that Honza himself took a picture. I know that JC is following HCB rule of showing some respect to the light, even if there’s none 🙂
