Carbon Print from a Film Negative / vlog #81

leave a comment »

In the vlog #81 I’ve learned that I can’t push expired film to the density I would want to see. From the fresh film I’ve easily got a good negative and from that negative I’ve made a great carbon print. Now I’ll make a carbon kits and send them to my greatest supporters from Patreon.com, so they can make a carbon print for themselves. Soon it’ll be available for the public.

Please leave a comment if this is something you would be interested in and leave a suggestion.

In this vlog I’m sharing with you some of my experience about developing a wet plate collodion plate. I hope you will enjoy it. Sorry it wasn’t a short vlog. And I’ve skipped quite few non-essential things.

If you’ve learned something new and you would appreciate more of this kind of content, please support the channel and the vision, either by buying my book or becoming my patreon.

Publishing a Photo-Book!

.
Ladies and gentleman,
I’ve pulled the leaver, thrown the dice, pushed the button, crashed the piggy bank, all that before I’ll kick the bucket. The printing process of my new book has started to roll and it’ll be working on it every day until it’s finished, presumably by the end of November 2019.

This is my first vlog in the series about the making of the book Light Mood. In this vlog I’m announcing the project and describing my concept and the basic thought processes how the photos were made and how I’m planning to approach the making of the book.

The pre-order of the book is available on my site:

My other photobook vlogs are on this link:

Photobook / GRÉGORY DARGENT / Topsheet #74

I’m back from Paris and of course I’ve been shopping. The secondhand video tripod and the rail was 250 EUR and those three books were 170 EUR. Photobooks are expensive, but if I would have to choose either photobooks or the video tripod, I would chosen photobooks, that’s for sure. It’s such a beautiful piece of object, a photobook, don’t you think? I see many layers in each photobook, photographs inside, a cover page, a graphic design, editing, a concept, the way story has been told, rhythm in the book, printing quality, paper, smell of the ink, how does it feel holding in hands, weight, surface texture,… I could go on whole day about the charm of a photobook.

The book featured in this 74th vlog is by GRÉGORY DARGENT.

Published by Saturne Editions in 2018.

Printed on paper: Artic Volume Ivory 150g

Music by Gregory Dargent
