Film developers D-76, Rodinal, FX-1 and Pyrocat HD / Vlog 58

leave a comment »

In this vlog I’ve mixed film developers Kodak D-76, FX-1, Pyrocat HD and Rodinal. OK, I will mix Rodinal before I will use it.

If you want to skip to exact information, here is the table of contents: D-76 or ID-11 3:306:00 FX-1 6:1012:30 Pyrocat HD 12:3114:52

I don’t know why I started this series and why I am digging so deeply, but with my vlogs I want to learn too, so I am curious to see how FX-1 and Pyrocat will do in comparison to my usual film developing choice D-76. I am not sure if somebody is interested in that, but if I started it, I will also finish it. Hopefully in my next vlog this will be done.

But of course, I will keep on shooting and I will learn new things.

Hospital in the middle of woodland? Topshit Photography Vlog #57

with 2 comments

.
In this episode of Topshit Photography vlog, I’m taking you with me to my favourite place on the planet, woodland of Kočevski rog in the middle of Slovenia. I also did a film test with Hasselblad xPan, but that’s not impressive at all. The size of that bear was really impressive. Anyway I’ll develop those rolls in different developers and see what’s the difference. Expect the unexpected, because topshit happens!

Part 2 / Kodak D-76 the most famous film developer

with one comment

OK, finally here is the second part of my research on the most famous developer Kodak D-76 also sold as Ilford ID-11. It took me way too much time and energy and resources, but I am happy with the results and I believe this case will shine some light and inspiration for younger generations of photographers who would like to work in analogue photography.

I’m listing the print on EBay as an auction, starting from 0,99$. Not to get payed for the work that I’ve done, but to finance the future vlogs that I have in mind. Thank you for your attention and hopefully also the bidding.

You may support me in various ways:

Paper Negative Experiment / Vlog #49

with one comment

.

Dear followers,

the results from this experiment has surprised me. I’ve used old compact camera, Kodak Folding Brownie 3A and silver-gelatin paper as a negative. On the end I’ve got this amazing print that I’m also listing on eBay. I’m sorry for not containing my excitement, but I’m an artist, I’m allowed to do that. Anyway even if you are not an artist, I hope you will like this vlog. I’ve been working on it for the whole week, but I think it was worth it.

I’ve listed the print on eBay and the listing is in two options, with or without the mat. The print is in both cases the same quality.

Please share with me your experience with paper-negative and if you have some suggestions what should be the theme of my future vlogs, please share that too.

Thank you for watching and helping me spreading topshit across the world!

PS: I’ve took down the EBay listing. I’ve changed my mind, it’s not on sale.

How much does Wet Plate Collodion cost?

In this vlog I’m shedding new light onto the myth that the wet plate collodion process is a very expensive hobby. It can be, but it doesn’t have to be. In the end I haven’t done all the maths, but I reckon that with 300 EUR you can buy the Brownie, tripod and all the chemistry to make 50 plates or more. THX!

If you appreciate this kind of content and you would like me to do more of it, I would appreciate your support through buying my book or becoming my patreon.

August workshops / Topshit Vlog #47

.

Here is a short vlog from this month. I’ve had three workshops and they were all successful, with great results. Participants were from USA, Italy, Austria and Slovenia. Small group of three is perfect for these slow hand made photographical processes.

In the future I’m planning to do more didactical videos on wet plate collodion process and analogue photography on general.

Thank you for your attention and let us not forget…
