Chess is my (another) passion

with 2 comments

Last week I was playing on a chess tournament in my town of Dolenjske Toplice. I wasn’t feeling very good and I was playing even worse, but the level was really high. It was 110 participants from at least four countries and three of them were chess Grandmasters! When I lost a game fast (quite few times) I did some photography and here is the result.

Anatoly Karpov (Russian: Анатолий Евгеньевич Карпов; born May 23, 1951) is a Russian chess grandmaster and former World Champion. He was undisputed World Champion from 1975 to 1985, repeatedly challenged to regain the title from 1986 to 1990, then was FIDE World Champion from 1993 to 1999.

Anyhow today I drove more then 600 km to Banovci and back to do a portrait of him. Journalist Bernard Nežmah is a real expert on chess and Karpov noticed that so, discussion was going on for 1,5 hour. Other journalists had half as much. Nevertheless I had only a minute to do staged portrait, but nevertheless I really like this portrait.
