Topshit Photography Vlog #30 – panoramas for Hotel Balnea

leave a comment »

I’m sorry for not publishing almost whole month. I’ve done three big corporate jobs and with the earned money I’m planning to finance the publication of my book. A real photo book! And agreed to do two solo shows in two countries in January and February.

And I have not forgot about you, my patreons, I am publishing a calendar with images from my project Feels Like Home and hopefully you will receive it by the end of the year.

Lots to do before that. Thank you for your support! I hope you enjoy my latest vlog. Subscribe on my youtube channel and if you can, please support me through Patreon.com/borutpeterlin

An apocalypse and a Woodland Beyond Photography 2017 event

leave a comment »

In this vlog I’m publishing two major things that happened to me. One is an ecological catastrophe when a recycling centre Ekosistemi caught fire. About half a million tons of plastic burned. I’m living about a kilometre away and we had to move away for two days until air came back. The drone shots were done illegally, without permission of authorities by my friend Manfred von Richthofen and the images were used by police, national TV, commercial TV, and almost all national newspapers and on-line media. On FB those images were shared more then 1000 times. Images were free of charge as long as the publication is dealing with the catastrophic event and about raising ecological awareness.

Second thing was the Woodland Beyond Photography event. This time was the second year in a row that we organised an artist retreat deep in woodland where we created what we do best – ART. It was great time away from civilisation, enjoying art and socialising. Next year we will make five day event, so book the dates between 25th and 29th of July 2018!

I thank the company of Gozdno gospodarstvo Novo mesto for their support and David Cutter music for his music. Doors’s music is copyrighted and the copyright owner will be payed too.

The whole show of Poletna scena on national TV is available on THIS LINK.

I THANK MY PATREONS for their support! Please consider a monthly tip for my videos. My goal is to publish videos weekly, perhaps few times a week and your help will be very welcome. Thank you!

I have new atelier!!! / VLOG #21

with 5 comments

I’m so happy that I finally got space for my atelier! I am overwhelmed. You will see, this is just my first week working in it. I can feel this is the milestone in my career. I’m planning to have workshops there, to have a library with photo-books, to do reviews of photo books and publish it daily and of course have my space of peace.

I broke my glass negative!!!

with one comment

Skuza me, but this video is pretty long, like 12 minutes, but I’ve been very productive the past month. I know, I should make three vlogs, but I just haven’t found time. Anyway, here is the new vlog and some images that I’ve listed on eBay.  Tomorrow very early morning I’m driving to Italian Gorizia, where I teach at University, hand made photography, of course, so this post will be super short. Short post and long video. Don’t forget to press like, subscribe and of course bid!

Thanks to my 50 patrons who are supporting me every month through the PATREON platform!

The best camera for the job / Topshit Photography Vlog 018

with one comment

In this vlog I’m just enjoying spontenitivity of photography. Many of our colleagues are just buying more and more cameras and at the same time taking less and less photographs. I am no exception, I am not pointing on anybody (especially not on Jean-Christophe Quet)

So I intend to shoot ten rolls, make a selection and bind it in a book. Because I can do that. I love photography, just for the sake of doing it and I hope the inspiration will come across this video. Thank you for all the attention!

Visiting Oliviero Toscani in Tuscany

In December I took a part of a workshop of Oil print process and it’s a photographic process that delivers a photograph that is a combination of photography and painting.

Wikipedia:
The oil print process is a photographic printmaking process that dates back to the mid 19th century. Oil prints are made on paper on which a thick gelatin layer has been sensitised to light using dichromate salts. After the paper is exposed to light through a negative, the gelatin emulsion is treated in such a way that highly exposed areas take up an oil-based paint, forming the photographic image.

The workshop was organised by Arezzo & Fotografia and conducted by Roberto Lavini. We enjoyed it very much and I will write more about the oil print process when I will master it. I’m planning to do a photographic project of reevaluating fairy tales and this process might be perfect.

Before the workshop I’ve visited Oliviero Toscani, the photographer who made UC of Benetton famous with his campaigns. I worked with Oliviero Toscani and Rocco Toscani in Fabrica, the research centre of communication by United Colors of Benetton  in year 2000 and 2001. I enjoyed a lot the company of Oliviero and Rocco, but I haven’t recorded much since the visit was mostly of personal nature. But what I can say is that many ideas are brewed, when creative people are enjoying sun, lunch and wine. I’m coming back, for sure.

.
Sorry guys, it passed quite some time from my last posting. I have been busy, I had a workshop in Florence, I took part of a workshop in Arezzo on oil-print, visit my friend and mentor Olivero Toscani, I had a talk in Berlin’s university, I got a job offer in Hamburg, while making a living. On Monday during the terrorist attack in Berlin I was in the neighbourhood. So I thank you for your patience and understanding. I hope I will publish another video before the end of the year. I wish you merry Christmas!
